Lord is Ambassador of Hell Jon Lord was awarded the prestigious title of Ambassador of Hell at the opening of Hell Blues Festival 2003 on Thursday September 11. Too nervous, touched and tired to play at the ceremony, Jon nonetheless spoke eloquently to the assembled crowd. Since last week he has been rehearsing in Hell, Norway for his Sunday night concert at Trondheim's Nidaros Cathedral. He dedicated this event to his late close friend Tony Ashton who was awarded Ambassador of Hell in 1998. With the award diploma Lord was given 10.000 Norwegian Kroner (roughly 850£) by the Mayor of Hell, Johan-Arnt Elverum. Below two newspaper articles about the award - click to view.
